Dubai Living, parks and beaches
Eight municipal parks and ten public beaches that cover almost every reason a Dubai resident steps outside the air-conditioning. Entry fees, facilities, and which spot fits which use case. Updated 2026-05-09.
Dubai has 70 kilometres of coastline along the Arabian Gulf, divided into a public-beach network managed by Dubai Municipality, hotel beach concessions, and gated beach communities. Inland, Dubai Municipality operates more than 60 public parks, plus two regional parks (Mushrif and Al Khawaneej) that exceed 100 hectares. The combination is part of why outdoor space drives a measurable rental premium in every Dubai community: residents value walkable green and walkable beachfront more than any other amenity except schooling.
All public beaches in Dubai are open 24 hours but lifeguard cover runs from 08:00 to 18:00 daily. Three Dubai beaches hold international Blue Flag certification: Jumeirah Beach (between Sunset and Open Beach 2), Al Mamzar, and Kite Beach. The certification audits water quality, lifeguard cover, accessibility, and environmental management on a yearly basis. The list is updated by the Foundation for Environmental Education in Copenhagen each March.
Smoking is permitted only in designated zones in every Dubai park; alcohol consumption is prohibited; loud music from speakers is discouraged. Friday and Saturday are the busiest days; Sunday afternoons run almost empty. Public displays of affection beyond hand-holding can attract warnings from park inspectors. Plastic bags are provided free of charge at every park entrance to encourage clean-up; littering carries a 500 AED on-the-spot fine.
Dubai Hills Estate, Arabian Ranches 3, and Al Furjan have the most green space per capita among the master-planned communities. On the coastline, Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Bay Island, and the Bluewaters apartments hold the closest private-and-public beach combinations. Compare via Dubai areas or browse the projects most-rented to family tenants on the Dubai property hub.

Most are free. Open public beaches such as Jumeirah, Kite, JBR, Marina, La Mer, and Sunset Beach charge nothing. The two paid exceptions are Al Mamzar Beach Park (AED 5 per person) and Jumeirah Beach Park (AED 5 per person), both of which include lifeguarded swim lagoons, BBQ pits, and dedicated cabanas. Beach access at hotel properties is reserved for hotel guests and day-pass holders.
Mushrif Park in Mirdif at 525 hectares, more than ten times the size of Zabeel Park. It hosts an indigenous Arabian wildlife enclosure, two swimming pools, a mini-train, and the World Village heritage zone. Entry is AED 3 per person and parking is free.
Dedicated BBQ pits are available at Mushrif Park, Al Mamzar Beach Park, Creek Park, and Safa Park. All four are bookable through the Dubai Municipality Public Parks app or paid on entry. Open-fire grilling outside designated pits is not permitted in any Dubai park.
Most parks prohibit pets except for the dedicated dog parks at Dubai Hills Park, Umm Suqeim Park, and Quoz Pond Park. Jebel Ali Beach has a designated dog-friendly section. Dubai Municipality requires a leash, current vaccinations, and a clean-up bag at all dog facilities.
November to March, when daytime highs are 22 to 28 degrees Celsius and humidity is at its yearly low. Sea temperatures stay swimmable from October to May. June to September are usable only in early morning or after sunset; midday heat exceeds 45 degrees and the humidity makes shade unreliable.
